5 Steps To Influence Like Barack Obama

Step #1 - Introduce the problem.  Associate pain with the status quo.  To get someone moving, you have to associate how it is now with being terrible.
Step #2 - Preemptively handle objections.  The more you can pre-empt objections, the weaker those arguments again change become.
Step #3 - Consistency.  Claim the change you want is actually consistent with their core identity.  People naturally resist change, but you can convince people they are actually be consistent by doing what you want them to do.  Group people in to already being on your side.
Step #4 - Give them ownership.  Say, "go look up / go see for yourself".
Step #5 - Compare your argument to something they already support.
Step #6 - Paint the heaven they will be in if they follow your advice.
Step #7 - Humbly ask for help.  "I need your help."
