Crash Course on Buddha and Shoka

Siddhartha Guatama was a prince under house arrest who renounced his birth and sought spiritual wisdom.  After many years of learning and meditating, he achieved enlightenment and became the Buddha.  He preached the 4 noble truths:

1) All life is suffering.
2) The source of suffering is desire.
3) The stop suffering, you must rid yourself of desire.
4) You accomplish this by way of the eightfold path

The eightfold path is:

1) Right view
2) Right intention
3) Right speech
4) Right action
5) Right livelihood
6) Right effort
7) Right mindfulness
8) Right concentration
