A Pitch for the Holocene Calendar

Growing up, I never appreciated the Gregorian calendar dates.  Learning history with negative numbers that counted down to a zero and then started counting up again.  Having a Holocene calendar for recorded history makes more sense.  The human transition from hunting and gathering to farming and building was the moment that humanity truly set itself apart from any other evolved species that has existed on this Earth.  12,000 years ago should be the new zero for our calendar year.

Year 0000 HE ~ First human construction project
Year 1000 HE ~ Jericho constructed
Year 2000 HE ~ Animals domesticated and agriculture spread
Year 4000 HE ~ Humans kick start the bronze age by learning how to make metals
Year 5000 HE ~ The first proto writing and the invention of the wheel
Year 7000 HE ~ First high cultures evolve
Year 8000 HE ~ Bronze age ends in violence, all societies except Egypt lost
Year 9500 HE ~ Western culture began
Year 9956 HE ~ Caesar killed
