How to Defend Earth from Asteroids

If you took every nuclear weapon that existed on the planet at the height of the cold war and exploded them together, that would only equal one millionth of the energy released from the asteroid impact that killed the dinosaurs 65 million years ago.

The asteroid Apophis was discovered in 2004.  It is about 215 yards across.  It is going to pass by the Earth in April of 2029.  The Earth's gravity is going to bend its orbit just enough so that 7 years later on April 13th in 2036, it might hit the Earth.

We have a space program and we can vote.  Nobody has to die.
