The Bechdel Test for Women in Movies

The Bechdel test was invented to show the absurdity of representation of women in film.  The requirements for passing the test is the following three criteria:

1) The movie has to have at least two women in it with names,
2) who talk to each other,
3) about something besides a man.

When applying this test, it is shocking to see how many movies fail this simple test.  In the last decade, it has gotten better, but it is still a blind spot that Hollywood has due to men dominating the roles of producers, directors, and writers.
